What is Fitness Training to Improve your Health and Wellbeing?
We all know that being physically active is good for our health and wellbeing and for those who are interested in getting “fit”, whether that be to achieve a weight loss goal or to help reduce the stress of daily life, there are many options to choose from.
These can range from starting to run, to joining spin classes at the gym. Before choosing an option, it’s likely you will have tried to read about how to get fit and the best way to do so for you.
However, there is a lot of information available that it can be difficult for the consumer to know where to start and what to do. Not only that, but how do you know the information you are reading is correct and based on science?
To help you, the consumer, who is interested in getting “fit”, the Physical Performance team at GCP have utilised their academic scientific background and experience of working in elite sport to design a practical workshop.
How do we do it?
The “Fitness Training to Improve your Health and Wellbeing” workshop is aimed at those who are wanting to getting “fit”, regardless of their goal, but are currently inactive or have tried to start training but are unsure on what to do.
1-hour education and practical workshop
Educational presentation to give you the basic scientific understanding of fitness training
Q&A with the Physical Performance Coaches to discuss “myths” around fitness training
Practical example of an introductory running session
Practical example of a games based running session
Examples of take-away sessions using various equipment and modalities
At the end of the workshop, you will firstly have a basic understanding of the science underpinning fitness training and answers to any questions you may have about the “myths” of fitness training or any confounding information you’ve read.
Secondly, you will experience two example sessions delivered by a Physical Performance coach in the format of an endurance and games-based run. Finally, you will be provided with examples of take-away sessions that can be used with a variety of equipment.

“Working with Alex and the team at GCP this pre-season put me in the best shape possible ahead of the new season. The programme that GCP delivered for me was exactly what I needed and I look forward to working with them again.”

“I attended the performance psychology section with 20 other business founders and found it very useful in understanding myself and what I can do to improve my personal performance within my team. I went further to invite the GCP team into conducting the same session with my staff. Overall I wanted my team to improve their individual and team performance by understanding each other’s mindset and gain an appreciation of each other’s approach. This was well-received by all staff beyond what I or my management team could achieve. Getting an external organisation truly added value as the session was not treated as a company requirement but a more personal approach to development. I strongly recommend any business that wants to develop a high-performance team to attend this course. The preparation, delivery and execution is great.”

“Thanks for arranging the experience day at Oriam for our year 3rd-year students on the Physiology & Sports Science course. We found it highly beneficial to get them out together as a group into an elite facility. The students took a lot away from the day and found it extremely useful.”

“GCP facilitated the arrangement for one of their staff members to work as part of the Player Services Team at the Nature Valley Open (WTA & ATP international tennis event). This member of staff had worked at the event for the previous three years and had built up a great rapport with WTA & ATP staff as well as players & coaches alike. The Player Services function is key to the overall player experience and success of the event and the return of an experienced member of staff with a proven track record ensured the smooth running of this operation and great player satisfaction.”

“GCP and our team at St. George’s Park, have worked seamlessly together to offer a range of experience days to academic institutions across the U.K. We are thrilled to have them as an onsite and look forward to many more years of working closely together.”

“Excellent week’s work, tough but enjoyable! Feeling strong and big thanks to the GCP staff for all their support.”

“The experience provided to the students was an excellent example of sports science in practice, demonstrating clearly how the inter-disciplinary teams assess, liaise and programme for an injured athlete to return to play post-injury. There was clear guidance of how the team used evidence-based practice to support this journey for the athlete and gave the students a first hand experience of how to apply their theoretical degree knowledge in an elite environment.”

“Overall we are very pleased with the service that GCP have provided us. The team have all been organised, helpful and willing to adapt their approach specifically to our needs as a club and the needs of the individual players involved.”

“It was a pleasure to work with Game Changer Performance. We involved 40 of our year 5 to year 8 boys in learning about Sport Psychology and Goal Setting, both of which the boys really enjoyed. The onsite session at school was perfectly adapted to our boys and was wonderfully interactive. This will help evolve our ‘More Able Sportsman’ program.”

“The residential rehabilitation facilities at St. George’s Park is a crucial service for many current and former professional footballers. I’m glad that it is now safe for this PFA service to resume, and that players can once again access the support they need to overcome their injuries. I look forward to seeing more players benefit from the exceptional treatment provided by the team at Game Changer Performance.”

“Thanks, a lot to the team at GCP for your hard work with Liam this week. I have been highly impressed by the service you provide. It sounds as if Liam has thoroughly enjoyed his time with you and that the change of environment has been a great help from a psychological point of view.”

“We are delighted to be partnering with CGP and it highlights how trusted our products are to be used to assist in the return to play of professional footballers. As GPS partners to the England National Football Team who are also based out of St. Georges Park, it’s great to be able to be involved with the wider professional footballing community and give them access to tools that might not be available to them in their daily training and rehabilitation. We look forward to following closely the great work that GCP will do and how they utilise our products for the benefit of their clients.”

“The PE staff and sports teams at St Mary’s Calne have relished the dynamic, thought-provoking and practical delivery of GCP’s sports psychology sessions onsite at school. It was relevant and appropriate, and the girls have begun to apply new techniques and strategies to enhance their performance both in training and in matches.”
